2007 Audi Q7: Full Size Luxury SUV, Engine, Leasing And Audi Dealers

The 2007 Audi Q7 sees the German automaker breaking ground with a new kind of full-size SUV. Falling in line numerically between the A6 and A8 (Audi likes to keep things ordinal), the luxury SUV comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, numerous security features, and a host of engine varieties to choose from.
The 2007 Audui Q7 was even born with its own theme song.
Spanish-born singer Carla Vallet sang the song “Streets of Tomorrow,” specifically penned for the 2007 Audi Q7, at the car's launch in September 2005. With lyrics like “I'm gonna drive all night” and “to lead, not to follow,” the song is essentially a commercial for the new SUV.
The 2007 Audi Q7 displays a version of Volkswagons 7L platform. The standard edition features the 3.0 liter TDI engine with a list price of 38,075 British pounds, which is roughly $19,000 for American buyers. The 2007 Audi Q7 is available with a variety of engine choices, but the V12 TDI caused the biggest stir. This 2007 Audi Q7 engine makes the SUV the first 12-cylinder passenger car. With horsepower usually reserved for semi trucks and race cars, the 2007 Audi Q7 with the V12 TDI – or turbocharged direct injection – will get up to 62 miles per hour in five and a half seconds.
Like its sibling vehicles, the 2007 Audi Q7 utilizes the quattro all-wheel drive system. While Audi has used the system for over 25 years, the 2007 Audi Q7 is the first vehicle to reference it in the name of a model. Nissan sued in 2005 over Audi's use of Q in a model name, before the car was even launched; their Infinity division makes cars such as the QX4 and Q45. They had been making cars with Q in the name since 1989, and claimed Audi's use of the letter would likely cause confusion, deception, or mistake among customers. The case was later settled out of court.
Audi claims that its 2007 Audi Q7 is at home on any road. Even when there isn't one. However, reviewers haven't been favorable to the SUV when it comes to off-road usage, with one calling it useless as an off-roader in addition to disliking its cocky appearance. During an off-road test, the 2007 Audi Q7 didn't respond well to mud and started to slide as the driver ascended a hill, whereas the Land Rover Discovery a fellow journalist tested did just fine through water, mud, and hills.
A hybrid version of the 2007 Audi Q7 is planned for 2008, although the market for hybrid cars in America is certainly a factor. Project manager of the Audi Q7 hybrid, Marius Lehna, stated that it would be tough to sell the hybrid at commercially sensible volumes if the U.S.A.'s market doesn't grow significantly faster than it currently is.
Those living on the either coast of the continental U.S. will find it easiest to get to an Audi dealer; California, New York, and New Jersey have the most Audi dealers in the country with 21, 11, and 8 respectively. Audi dealers are leasing the 2007 Audi Q7 for 36 month leases that start at roughly $600 and can go upwards of $900 monthly. Leasing price obviously depends on credit score, lease term, and average number of miles driven per year.
